Spelling Bee is Back!
Spelling Bee Registration is now open!The Stenwood PTA is sponsoring our participation in the Scripps National Spelling Bee program. Students in all grades are welcome. The Junior Bee for grades K-2 will use the Scripps’ online testing portal. The Senior Bee for grades 3-6 will begin online, and will be followed by an in-person final round for the top spellers. Participation is optional, free, and takes place outside of school hours. All online tests are taken at your convenience and usually take less than ten minutes to complete. Trophies will be awarded to top junior and senior spellers, and all participants will receive a certificate recognizing their efforts! Sign up hereYou will receive instructions for the online test portal and a word list with definitions that your child may use to study. Study a lot, a little, or not at all! The Junior Bee for grade K-2 will be held Feb 5-6. Top spellers from the Junior Bee will advance to the Senior Bee. The Senior Bee for grades 3-6 and the winners from K-2 will be held Feb 12-13. The top ten spellers will be invited to the in-person spelling bee final on Feb 26th at 6:00 pm in the Stenwood Library. The winner of the in-person spelling bee will be eligible to compete in the Fairfax County Spelling Bee.
