Battle of the Books FAQ
What is the Battle of the Books?
It is a competition between Stenwood 5th and 6th grade classes involving 10 books. Each class will have four representatives and one alternate. During the battle, questions about the selected books will be answered. Teams receive points for each correct answer. For rounds one and two, each team will be asked 4 questions. Round three is the speed round where each individual representative goes head to head with another team representative. The final bonus round will be one question with multiple answers. The team with the most points at the end wins.
How can I represent my class?
Read as many of the selected books as you can. One week before the battle, each class will take the battle quiz and the four students with the highest score will represent their class.
How can I participate if I am not a class representative?
By reading the selected books, you can still help your class even if you are not a representative. Each team will have a “phone-a-friend” option if the team doesn’t know the answer. When using this option, anyone from the class can answer the question and help the team. In addition, students can help come up with the class name, theme, chant, and posters.
Where can I get the books?
The books are in the Stenwood library. If they are already checked out, you may put them on hold. Also check your public library for availability.
